Linda Sánchez was born on January 28, 1969 in Orange, California, USA. She has been married to James Sullivan since April 13, 2009. They have one child.

Older sister is Loretta Sanchez, who was also a member of the U.S. House of Representatives (Democrat - California) from 1997 to 2017.

Is a U.S. Representative (D) from California, serving in Congress since 2003 representing a district primarily in eastern Los Angeles County. Serves on the powerful Ways and Means Committee, and was the ranking member on the Ethics Committee (2011-2017). Was also chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (2015-2017).

Raised by Mexican immigrant parents in southern California. Earned her BA in Spanish in 1991 from the University of California, Berkeley and her law degree in 1995 from UCLA School of Law, where she was an editor of the Chicano-Latino Law Review.

Was elected Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus for the 115th Congress, the fifth-ranking position in House Democratic leadership. She is the first woman of color ever to be elected to a Congressional leadership position.

Son Joaquin Sánchez Sullivan was born May 13, 2009, making Sanchez the 8th woman to have given birth while serving in Congress.
