Biography

Joey Giardello was born on July 16, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA. He was an actor, known for Moonrunners (1975), Super Fight II (1974) and Pabst Blue Ribbon Bouts (1948). He was married to Rosalie Giardello. He died on September 4, 2008 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA.

Sued over how his championship fight with Reuben Carter was depicted in "The Hurricane" (1999) and settled out of court for an undisclosed sum. According to the Los Angeles Times, the DVD version of the film includes commentary by the director, Norman Jewison, noting that liberties were taken in the fight scenes.

World middleweight boxing champion, 7 December 1963 (defeated Dick Tiger) to 21 October 1965 (lost to Dick Tiger).

Inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1993.
