Biography

Clark Allen was shot in a robbery attempt at his nightclub the "El Cid" in 1972. He nearly died from the wound. His recovery, which took nearly a year, surprised even his doctors.

He and his former wife, Margarita Cordova owned and operated the El Cid flamenco club in Los Angeles for nearly two decades.

Also a singer, he toured with poet Carl Sandburg in the theatrical production of 'The World of Carl Sandburg".

He had 2 children with Margarita Cordova. A girl named Angela, who is a fine artist, and a boy David Clark, who is a musician.

Clark Allen was also a fine artist and exhibited in the Los Angeles area. His paintings were in the Mid-Century Modern, Abstract, and Latin-Modernist style. His favorite subjects were portraits, modernist figures, and colorful flamenco dancers, which were all skillfully executed. Actor Vincent Price was an avid collector of his work.
