- Mecky Creus is an award-winning director of photography who has worked on films like Menudo: Forever Young, The North Pole, Mi Gallo, Yo soy un Politico, Calle de la Resistencia, El Cartel Cubano and Into Flight Once More; and artists like Marc Anthony, Young Thug, Nicky Jam, Juanes, Intocables, Zion I and Rappin' 4-Tay.
He approaches the camera with a naturalistic, verité-style realism, which he honed early in his career documenting the skateboarders of San Juan, Puerto Rico, his hometown. Amidst the bustle of the city, he learned to be nimble, adaptable, able to turn on a dime, necessary skills when capturing the urban chaos of skating.
That flexibility developed into the foundation of his cinematic style: flowing easily between scripted and documentary settings, between English and Spanish languages, and between narrative and commercial projects. A passionate and dedicated storyteller, his work celebrates diverse cultures and perspectives.
Creus received an MFA in Cinematography from the Academy of Art in San Francisco, and he lives and works bicoastally in San Francisco and Miami.
