Biography

Lulu Wang was born on February 25, 1983 in Beijing, China. She is a director and writer, known for The Farewell (2019), Expats (2023) and Touch (2015). She has been married to Barry Jenkins since December 2024.

Graduated from Boston College.

At Boston College, she majored in literature and music in the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences, but planned to become a lawyer.

Born in Beijing, Wang was 6 when her parents immigrated to the U.S., settling in Miami.

Mentioned that her parents never shed light on the possibility of her being a filmmaker most likely because her appearance was different from the Americans.
