Biography

Jesús Calderón is a versatile and prolific international music composer for films, TV, advertising, animation, videogames, etc.

Since his early years, he was very attracted to the artistic creation, and soon he began his studies in music theory, harmony and piano at the conservatories of Osuna and Seville in Spain.

He has written more than 100 soundtracks for audiovisual projects from many countries; working with directors and producers from the United States, Mexico, Australia, Ireland, Indonesia, Iceland, Austria, and Spain. His soundtracks can be found in movies, short films, animation, documentaries, advertising, TV series, exhibitions, contemporary dance, etc.

Throughout his career, his music has garnered many awards and nominations in different international festivals, highlighting the "Hollywood Music in Media Award" for "Best Original Score" in 2012, when he attended the "HMMA" gala in Los Angeles. Today, Jesús keeps composing music for many exciting projects, and has recently released an online compilation of his work for the screen: "Decade I - 10 Years of Film Music", a huge gathering of 100 tracks of exciting and varied music.

At the beginning, his main inspirations were from electronic and new-age music, but then he found a world of endless possibilities in the exciting field of the soundtracks. In some of his works, we can find a perfect balance between electronic and orchestral flavors, combining his classical background with his knowledge of synthesizers and modern music. Facing many musical challenges along his career, Jesús has composed for many styles and genres: ethnic, minimal, orchestral, piano solos, mixed choir, electronic, horror, epic, fantasy, etc.

Jesús Calderón is a versatile music composer for film and TV. He has signed more than two hundred Soundtracks of very diverse genres, working for producers from Spain, and others countries like USA, Ireland, Mexico, Austria, Australia or Indonesia; creating for all kind of audiovisual projects, including feature films, television series TV, documentaries, short-films, animation, advertising, contemporary dance or theater. He studied official music studies in Osuna and Seville conservatories; and he likes to write and orchestrate for symphonic instruments, as well as for synthesizers, sampling, sound synthesis and creation of environments. In his work we can find a multitude of influences, and has great ease in adapting and merge different styles. He has composed pieces of electronic music, minimalism, symphonic, piano solos, works for orchestra and choir, etc. He has been awarded repeatedly at some specialized international festivals, with more than twenty awards, highlighting the "Hollywood Music in Media Award"(2012), which he had the opportunity to receive in Los Angeles (USA). Among his latest works is the documentary "Discovering Otto"; and the feature films "La Mancha Negra": and "Corazón Ardiente": released in Poland, Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Brazil and other countries. One of his latest works is the soundtrack for director Antonio Cuadri's last film: "Si Todas las Puertas se Cierran", winner of "Best Original Music" in the "Cine No Visto" independent film festival in Linares (Spain).
