In his earlier radio days Preston went by the name of Kenny Knight. Preston regrets the fact that the one and only time he interviewed Paul McCartney in person and got his autograph, it was made out to "Ken".

Preston has assisted film director M. Night Shyamalan, recurring guest of the Preston and Steve morning show, as emcee at the M. Night Shyamalan Foundation's annual Shyamaween Halloween fundraiser.

Preston was born in Tennessee but mainly grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. He spent a few years playing drums in cover bands, then made his way to broadcasting school and became a DJ. A series of events in radio broadcasting brought him to the Philadelphia area, where he now resides.
