- Former White House chef (1994-2005).
- After briefly studying at the University of Maryland, he attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y., graduating in 1979. He was executive chef at the Capital Hilton in Washington DC, the Boca Raton Resort and Club in Florida, and the Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia.
- He was executive chef at the White House during the administrations of Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.
