Biography

Kuan Yew Lee was born on September 16, 1923 in Singapore. He was married to Kwa Geok Choo. He died on March 23, 2015 in Outram, Singapore.

Father of Lee Hsien Loong.

Mr. Lee was the first and longest-serving prime minister of Singapore, guiding it through a traumatic split with Malaysia in 1965. He helped transform what was then a sleepy port city into a global trade and financial centre. Handing over the leadership to a younger generation in 1990, he remained an influential figure for many more years.
