Paul V. Seetachitt

Biography

Paul V. Seetachitt

Biography

  • Paul Seetachitt is a Thai-American filmmaker and co-founder of Secret Monster Productions. A former aerospace engineer who once built satellites, Paul brings his engineering outlook to filmmaking, building projects for commercial viability without losing the creative edge that makes them worth remembering. Paul produced the acclaimed comedy Americanish, which won 25 awards across the festival circuit, including Best Film and Best Director, and was acquired by Sony Pictures International for distribution. He co-wrote an episode of Creepshow on AMC's Shudder Network, and the action film Precious Cargo, starring Bruce Willis and Mark-Paul Gosselaar. He wrote and directed his first feature, the sci-fi comedy Rock Jocks, starring Felicia Day and Doug Jones, and directed a season of the web series The Blockbuster Buster. Paul gives back to the filmmaking community through mentorship, specializing in one-on-one coaching for first-time writer-directors and helping them prepare, problem-solve, and tell their stories. He has taught film courses at the University of Florida and at Pierce College. Coaching has been a through-line across his life: in college he taught scuba diving to marine biologists, as an aerospace engineer he wrote training modules for building satellites, and over the years he has taught swing dancing and martial arts to children and adults. Paul is a food adventurer and an avid board-gamer. He co-hosts two podcasts: Game Brain, about board gaming, and the Star Trek Discovery Pod, covering current and classic Trek. He also enjoys karaoke, and has just about perfected his rendition of "Poor Unfortunate Souls." He lives in Los Angeles with his wife. Paul holds an MFA from Florida State University's film school and a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from UCLA, and is a recipient of a Princess Grace Foundation grant.
