- Uday Wagh is a CG Generalist, FX Supervisor, Compositing Artist, and Generative AI Engineer with over two decades of experience in India's animation and live-action VFX industry. He began his career at Maya Entertainment Ltd-Bollywood director Ketan Mehta's dream studio-working on Jajantaram Mamantaram and the cult sci-fi series Captain Vyom.
As the first designated FX Lead at Prana Studios in 2004, Uday worked closely with creative director Arish Fyzee on the U.S. animated hit Hoodwinked. He made his Bollywood breakthrough as CG Head for Aamir Khan's Mangal Pandey: The Rising, earning personal recognition from the actor himself.
He later supervised VFX for Toonpur Ka Superhero, BBC's Tronji, and Sholay 3D, where his initial FX test convinced director Ramesh Sippy and Zee Films to move forward with 3D stereoscopy. At Prime Focus, he worked on international projects, followed by FX work on Don 2 (Farhan Akhtar & Shah Rukh Khan), including the iconic VFX-heavy song Dushman Mera.
His credits also include Ramayana: The Epic, the upcoming semi photoreal 3D feature Nephilim, and ABCD 2, where his dynamic CG water simulations for the song Bezubaan contributed to its Sony Guild Award for Best VFX. In Adipurush, Uday single handedly led the FX creation for 30 photorealistic water simulation shots in the song Tu Hai Sheetal Dhara.
He has also collaborated with renowned international VFX supervisors, including Michael Grobe and Gregor Lakner of Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) contributing to high-end global projects.
Now expanding his creative reach into artificial intelligence, Uday integrates Generative AI technologies into his visual design process, making him one of the few Indian VFX veterans at the forefront of AI-powered storytelling.
