Philip Koch(I)

Philip Koch is a German filmmaker, screenwriter and producer based in Munich. He is the founder and CEO of Nocturna Productions GmbH and is represented internationally by United Talent Agency (UTA) and by Players Agentur Management in Germany. Koch studied directing and screenwriting at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF). His feature debut Picco premiered at the 63rd Cannes Film Festival in 2010 and won numerous awards, including the New Faces Award and the German Peace Prize for Film. He wrote the screenplay for Operation Zucker (2012), which won the German Television Award, a Bambi, and a Goldene Kamera. His television film Play (2019) earned four German Academy of Television Awards and was nominated for both the Grimme Award and the International Emmy Award. Koch created, wrote and directed the Netflix sci-fi series Tribes of Europa (2021). In 2022, he founded Nocturna Productions with a focus on high-end genre entertainment for the global market. The company's second production, the mystery thriller Brick (2025) starring Matthias Schweighöfer, amassed over 61 million views on Netflix and entered the all-time top ten of the platform's most-watched non-English-language films.
