- I don't understand what's wrong with saying "Happy Holidays." I mean, if your employer forces you to say "Happy Holidays" *instead* of "Merry Christmas," then maybe that's a little too politically correct, but honestly, I don't see what's wrong with recognizing other holidays. Anyone who says that "Christmas is an American tradition and if you don't want to say "Merry Christmas" or "Christmas Tree" then GTFO" can just shut right the hell up. Okay, this is kinda of a duh thing, but some people still seem to forget that being American is not the same thing as being Christian. The only thing America has contributed to Christmas tradition is Santa Claus and commercialism. The idea of a "War on Christmas" seems kind of stupid to me; I think people are just in denial that there are people with different religions and traditions. I simply do not understand why people have a problem with recognizing the winter season has many holidays celebrated by many religious, and that's okay. I'm pretty sure that there's way too much contention about when Jesus was actually born and just how much of the date Christmas was chosen to oppress Pagans for Christians to have a damn thing to say about a war on Christmas. If you want to say Happy Holidays, say it. If you want to say Merry Christmas, say it. But don't fucking tell other people that they're un-American because they don't treat the winter season the same way you do.
