Biography

Michael Anthony Spady

Overview

  • Born
April 28, 1981 · New Rochelle, New York, USA
  • Height
    6′ 1½″ (1.87 m)

Biography

  • Michael Anthony Spady is best known for his lead role in "Hamill" (a movie that received AFI Fest Audience Award for Best Feature Film) and a supporting role in "Sympathy for Delicious" (starring Mark Ruffalo, Juliette Lewis, Orlando Bloom and Laura Linney). Spady is one of the most notable deaf actors currently on screen.

Spady was born in New Rochelle, N.Y. He began acting at the age of nine. He has done numerous plays, including the role of Chief Liem, in the award winning, off Broadway show; Emperor Jones.

In 2001, he was awarded a scholarship to Deaf West's Summer Program in Los Angeles. However, his parents demanded that he returned to N.Y. and complete his college program. Spady received his Bachelors Degree in Business in 2006 from Rochester Institute of Technology. It was the same school that UFC legend Matt Hamill (deaf fighter) attended. However, Spady was not a wrestler; track and field was his sport.

A month after his graduation, Spady was back in California. Since then he has been in a few movies, including: "Sympathy for Delicious" (2010 Sundance Film Festival's Jury Prize Winner) and "Hamill" (AFI Fest Audience Award for Best Feature Film) and a couple of TV shows, such as "Cold Case" and "Love That Girl!". Spady has also done a few commercials and the music video "We Made It" with Busta Rhymes and Linkin Park. Spady recently received a full scholarship at the prestigious Stella Adler School in Hollywood, thanks to his good friend and mentor Mark Ruffalo.
