Silver Chief

  • Actor
IMDbProStarmeterSee rank
Silver Chief is a equine actor that has appeared in a number of westerns. Mostly uncredited for his parts in the movies he acted in. Most memorable as the Lone Ranger's white horse Silver in The Lone Ranger (1938) and The Lone Ranger Rides Again (1939). This white stallion had a distinguishing black spot in front of his left eye, a couple dots around the right eye, and a neck marking. Silver Chief was from the Hudkins Brothers stables. Ace Hudkins was the owner. Another interesting fact. Most people believe that the white horse that Thomas Mitchell rides in Gone with the Wind (1939) is the same horse Clayton Moore rides in The Lone Ranger (1949). Fact is it was Silver Chief. Clayton Moore never rode Silver Chief. Silver Chief never appeared on The Lone Ranger (1949). It is unknown what became of Silver Chief after his movie career ended.
