In 1997, while in Japan preparing for a tour with Foreigner, Lou began having memory loss, extreme headaches, and double vision. The tour was canceled while Lou returned to the United States to consult his doctors, who found a brain tumor the size of a large egg. It was operated on within a week and Lou, after quite a lengthy period of time, made a substantial recovery and returned to touring and performing live.
