Biography

Jose David Acevedo, also known as "Ace" or "JD," is a Puerto Rican filmmaker, attorney, U.S. Navy veteran, and award-winning producer, director, writer, and actor. His work has been recognized at film festivals, where his projects have received critical acclaim for their focus on resilience, redemption, and the human experience.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Jose served 29 years in the United States Navy, completing three combat deployments to the Middle East. After his military service, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the entertainment industry, where he founded the independent production company Sin Nombre Films.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Cinema and Television Production from California State University, Northridge. His senior thesis documentary, Lily the Glitch, received multiple honors at the California State University Film Festival, including Best Documentary.

Following his filmmaking career, Jose earned his Juris Doctor from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico School of Law and became an attorney. His legal career has included work in immigration law, public policy, veterans' advocacy, and congressional service, combining his passion for storytelling with a commitment to justice and public service.

Through his films, legal work, and publicservice, Jose continues to develop projects that explore themes of acceptance, second chances, resilience, and hope while bridging the worlds of entertainment, law, and advocacy.
