Biography

Vera Brühne was born on February 6, 1910 in Essen, Germany. She was married to Lothar Brühne and Hans Cossy. She died on April 17, 2001 in Munich, Germany.

Mother of Sylvia Cosiolkofsky (born 1941, died October 5th, 1990), daughter of Ludwig Kohlen (born January 16th, 1870, died March 10th, 1951).

Vera Brühne got famous throughout Germany as a victim of miscarriage of justice. In 1961/62, she was convicted, together with Johann Ferbach, of having murdered the physician Otto Praun and his lover. Ulrich Sonnemann considered the case as a new Dreyfus affair. In 1979, she was pardoned by Bavarian governor Franz Josef Strauss.
