- His father, Steve Swisher, played for the Chicago Cubs (1974-1977), St. Louis Cardinals (1978-1980), and San Diego Padres (1981-1982), and, like Nick, was a 1st-round draft pick.
- Played for the Oakland Athletics (2004-2007), Chicago White Sox (2008), New York Yankees (2009-2012), Cleveland Indians (2013-2015), and the Atlanta Brave (2015). In 2016, he signed a minor league contract with the Yankees (Class AAA International League's Scranton/Wilkes-Barre), but was not called up to the major league club. He announced his retirement on February 17, 2017 and became an analyst for Fox.
