  • European Film Award recipient John Gürtler is a London born, Berlin-based multi-instrumentalist and composer of film music.

    Seeking an individual tailor made approach to each new project, his works span a multitude of styles and performances by the international Berlin music scene, often in collaboration with pianist and studio partner Jan Miserre. Recent projects include The Outrun ( starring Soarsie Ronan and directed by Nora Fingscheidt) No One's With the Calves (directed by Sabrina Sarabi) , for which he received the German Film Award for Best Sound, A Mouthful of Air (starring Amanda Seyfried and directed by Amy Koppelmann) , the Netflix series Dig Deeper by Nicolas Steiner, A Pure Place by director Nikias Chryssos, for which he received the German Film Critics Award for Best Score, Space Dogs by Elsa Kremser and Levin Peter, as well as System Crasher by long time collaborator Nora Fingscheidt, for which he won a Camille Award and "European Original Score 2019", presented by the European Film Academy.

    As a performer and producer of electro acoustic music collaborations include artists such as Phillip Sollmann (aka Efdemin), Field Kit and Ed Davenport. As a lecturer at film schools John specializes in encouraging original sound and score concepts, as well as coaching communication between directors and composers.
