Carey Nelson Burch, Founder and President of My Own Shingle in Nashville, TN serves as a Consultant, Manager and Producer to scores of clients whose talents include Writing, Directing, Producing, Digital Content Creation and On-Air Talent, as well as projects including Feature Films, Scripted and Reality Television, Literary Properties, certified SnapChap lens, and Augmented and Virtual Reality.
Beginning her career at Bob Banner's production company Paradigm Entertainment, in Los Angeles, Carey soon became an assistant at Lorimar TV, Warner Brothers TV and later NBC, where she was promoted to Manager of Movies and Miniseries for the Studio. In 1997, Carey became a Packaging Agent at The William Morris Agency. While there, Carey sold over 40 Movies of the Week. But her biggest accomplishment was getting the TNT film Door to Door: The Bill Porter Story made. The film, which starred William H. Macy, won six Emmy Awards, as well as the Humanitas, WGA, SAG and Peabody Awards.
Relocating to William Morris's Nashville offices in 2000, Carey had the distinction of being the only TV/Film agent in town, servicing Feature and TV producers and the country artist roster.
During this time, Carey also worked with CMT, packaging Gurin Company's SINGING BEE, Fremantle Media's CAN YOU DUET, HULK HOGAN'S CELEBRITY WRESTLING, Bishoff-Hervey's PBR's POSSE, HUNTING TED NUGENT, NEIGHBORHOOD INTERVENTION, GONE COUNTRY and Horizon Entertainment's EMANCIPATED. She secured Clint Black's participation on NBC's CELEBRITY APPRENTICE 2, Blake Shelton's stint on CLASH OF THE CHOIRS, and Chuck Wicks and Sara Evans slots on ABC's DANCING WITH THE STARS.
Twelve years later, Carey started her own company, My Own Shingle. In partnership with Mitchell Galin and Odyssey Networks, she Executive Produced THE SHUNNING for Hallmark. Carey was Co-Executive Producer for the film, REEL LOVE, an E1 production starring LeAnn Rhimes and Burt Reynolds, as well as the CMT reality series RAIDERS OF ROCK with Taillight TV. Carey partnered with Provident Films representing their films for television and in partnership with Sharlene Martin of Martin Literary Management, Carey secured Film and TV deals for several Non-Fiction and True Crime authors.
In 2015, Carey joined TackleBox Films as an Executive Producer of Music Videos and Documentaries while growing the Reality and Scripted spaces. Most recently she Produced Kaleo's video "No Good", the title track for Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese's HBO series VINYL. Carey Executive Produced videos for artists including Kenny Chesney, Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Florida Georgia Line, Easton Corbin, Eli Young Band, Rascal Flatts and Dan & Shay, and Produced the AT&T/Opry music franchise.
Carey then became President of Hideout Pictures, a division of Average Joes Entertainment which created CMT's Still the King starring Joey Lauren Adams and Billy Ray Cyrus. While there, Carey was an Executive Producer on the independent film BEAUTY MARK, Chad Daniels' stand up comedy special DAD CHANIELS, the eight part series THE PROPERTY, and the single camera comedy JESSUP before returning to My Own Shingle full time.
Her current Consulting clients include Big Branch Productions, Big Banzai, Made In Network, Right Brain Left Brain Productions, RocketSlide Films, Camp Digital Productions, documentarian Windy Borman, and Evan Farmer's THE BUILDING BARN. Carey has partnered with Turner Publishing and their new imprint Keylight Books representing their catalog for TV and Film, securing twelve sales in 2019 and 2020 with Josh Berman, Sony Studios, Kay Cannon, Sysiphus (Jared Leto), Grammnet (Kelsey Grammer), Echo Lake and Engage to name a few. She's also attached to a handful or projects as an Executive Producer. Most recently she sold two seasons of Phil Vassar's SONGS FROM THE CELLAR to the Opry's new network Circle.
Throughout her formidable career, Carey has served on many Boards including the Governor's Board for the TN Film, Entertainment and Music Commission, the Nashville Film Festival (where she was Vice President for two years), the Nashville Screenwriters Conference and Leadership Music. She currently serves on the Boards of the Nashville Film Festival, Nashville's Film-Com and the Belmont Advisory Board for Entertainment and Film.
