Armin van Buuren was born on December 25, 1976 in Leiden, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands. He is a composer and actor, known for 6 Underground (2019), The Spy Who Dumped Me (2018) and Jackpot! (2024). He has been married to Erika van Thiel since 2009. They have two children.

I don't understand why people are so negative. If you don't like certain music, just don't play it, don't listen to it. What is happening right now is something that you cannot do anything about. It's just the natural course of things. Music is always evolving: listen to the first [The Beatles] album, and then listen to the last Beatles album.

[on the future of EDM (electronic dance music)] I don't know. Everything is going so fast now. There are so many new talents on the horizon. What is happening right now is a thing I like to call 'diversification' because you have all these little islands within dance music. It's not just one sound anymore.
