In 1971 Martin was blacklisted from covering the wedding of President Richard Nixon's daughter Tricia Nixon due to her covert attempt to report on the earlier 1968 wedding of Julie Nixon and David Eisenhower by blending in with the bridesmaids. The President had not forgotten her ploy.
