April 12, 1977 · Hannover, Lower Saxony, Germany

Biography

  • Kerim König studied cultural studies and aesthetic practice with a focus on music and media at the University of Hildesheim. While still a student, he composed his first film scores for short films and animated films and deepened his knowledge in international masterclasses.

After moving to Berlin, König received his first commissions for film and TV productions. He has been working with composer Christian Biegai since 2019. Both were nominated by the German Academy of Television in the music category in 2022 for their music for Tatort: Propheteus. In 2024, they jointly took on a teaching position in film music at the Berlin University of the Arts.

He has collaborated with Japanese pianist Mayuko Miyata, the ensembles Scoring Berlin and Oriel Quartett, and New Zealand singer Teresa Bergman, among others.
