Daniel Godwin
I grew up in Burnt River, a very small town in Ontario, Canada that I couldn't wait to get the hell out of. I moved to Toronto, became a drummer in a punk band and worked as a production assistant on a bunch of film and TV projects... eventually giving up music to focus on writing. I got my start as a writer on FLASHPOINT (CTV/CBS). Four seasons of that is where I learned to tell emotionally driven stories that took the familiar procedural format and spun it in a relatable way that really connected with the audience.

From there I wrote on PLAYED (CTV/ION), which got me nominated for a Writer's Guild Award. I was a writer and producer on X COMPANY (CBC), an emotionally driven action-drama series that I shot for three seasons in Budapest. Recently, I've been focused on developing my own projects and writing in other mediums like video games. The older I get, the more I seem to be accepting who I am and embracing where I'm from. That's the place I try to write from and those are the stories I'm excited to tell.

Now more than ever I'm looking to television as an escape from the chaos of the world. And that's why I strive to tell stories that blend drama with a healthy dose of comedy and a lot of heart. My goal is to leave the audience feeling good, entertained, and wanting to watch another episode.
