Spencer Wells was born on 6 April 1969 in Georgia, USA. He is known for Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs (2007), The Hadza: Last of the First (2014) and Nova (1974). He has been married to Pamela Caragol since 2005. He was previously married to Trendell Thompson.

Completed his postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University
(1994-1998).

Earned his Ph.D in biology at Harvard University in 1994.

Entering the University of Texas at Austin at the age of 16 he
graduated in 1988 with a B.S in Biology.
