- Max Lorenz is a West German footballer who played as a midfielder. He played 19 matches for the West Germany National Football Team, winning silver at the 1966 World Cup and bronze at the 1970 World Cup.
He joined S.V. Werder Bremen before the start of the 1960/61 season. He won the 1961 West German Cup with Bremen. He played in the 1961/62 Cup Winners' Cup, playing all four matches against Aarhus and Atlético De Madrid. After the creation of the West German Bundesliga, he won the 1964/65 West German championship with Werder. He played four matches in the 1965/66 European Champions Cup.
He made his debut for the West German national team on April 24, 1965, in a qualifying match for the 1966 World Cup against Cyprus in Karlsruhe. He played in two historic victories for the West German national team in 1968, over England (1-0 in Hanover on June 1) and Brazil (2-1 in Stuttgart on June 16). In a qualifying match for the 1970 World Cup, again against Cyprus on May 21, 1969, he played in a resounding 12-0 victory, scoring his first and only goal for the national team.
