Jance Rubinchik is an accomplished Animation Director and Supervisor with over 20 years of experience in the VFX industry. He has contributed to many blockbuster films, and his work spans a variety of genres, showcasing his versatility and expertise in both creature animation and character-driven performances.
Over the course of his career, Jance has collaborated with some of the most prestigious VFX facilities in the industry. He began his career at Tippett Studio in 2005, where he worked on challenging creature and character projects that pushed the boundaries of animation and visual effects. In 2008, he transitioned to Weta FX, where he contributed to iconic films such as Avatar (2009) and the first two Planet of the Apes films (Rise of the Planet of the Apes [2011] and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes [2014]), playing a critical role in bringing to life complex, emotionally driven characters.
In 2017, Jance joined Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) as an Animation Supervisor, where he oversaw complex, animation-heavy shows, including the blockbusters Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Jurassic World: Dominion (2022), guiding the animation of realistic dinosaur creatures and ensuring seamless interaction between animation and live-action elements. His leadership and attention to detail earned him a reputation as a go-to expert for handling high-stakes, performance-driven animation projects.
In 2021, Jance took on the role of Animation Director at MPC Visual Effects, where he was instrumental in leading the animation team for Disney's Disenchanted (2022). His expertise in character animation and storytelling helped elevate the film's blend of live-action and animation, delivering whimsical yet emotionally resonant performances.
Originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Jance's passion for animation was evident from an early age. He pursued his education at the prestigious Ringling College of Art and Design, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Computer Animation. His time at Ringling helped shape his artistic vision and technical expertise, setting the foundation for his career.
