Biography

Blaine Kern was born on May 17, 1927 in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. He was married to Holly. He died on June 25, 2020 in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.

He founded Kern Studios, which creates large elaborate floats for the annual Mardi Gras parades in Louisiana. It grew into an entertainment production and specialty fabrication company, building elaborate props and parades for such clients as Disney, Six Flags and Universal Studios.

He attended the New Orleans Academy of Art. He eventually studied parade float design and building in Europe.

He was drafted into the Army and served in Korea at the end of WWII.
