- The band's first and most famous hit, "Pick Up The Pieces", was released in July of 1974 in the UK without success, but when it was released in America in October of the same year, it began to make an impression, and eventually reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 number one singles chart on the first of March 1975. Although Robbie McIntosh played on the track, he didn't live to see the colossal success it went on to have.
- The original drummer, Robbie McIntosh, died in September of 1974 of an accidental heroin overdose. He was replaced by Steve Ferrone, the band's first black member.
- The original lineup featured Alan Gorrie (guitar, bass guitar and vocals), Hamish Stuart (guitar, bass guitar and vocals), Onnie McIntyre (vocals, rhythm guitar), Malcolm Duncan (tenor saxophone), Roger Ball (keyboards, saxophones) and Robbie McIntosh (drums).
