A Native of Berkeley California, Daryl discovered his passion for Acting during an acting fundamentals course, and while earning a degree in Communications at Chapman University in Southern California,(1986) That passion was placed on hold while Daryl relocated himself back to the Bay Area for a job as an officer in the banking industry.(1990). This was intended to be a 1-2 year career while pursuing theatre in the evenings, but it wasn't. 1 year after the move, Daryl met his soon to be wife and moved his life down a more stable path than one that allowed for artistic endeavors. it wasn't until after a 15 year stint in the Financial Services, Luxury Retail, and High Tech industries, which included the 4 year marriage, that Daryl secured his first agency representation with Stars in San Francisco, California.(2004) after only 3 attempts before the agency "heard" something in Daryl. Daryl had finally begun pursuing his passion of acting with community theatre about 15 months prior while working a "day job" at Nordstrom's department store.
Daryl was quickly blessed with numerous opportunities in the voice over commercial market. Cultivating a relationship with Carol H. Williams Advertising in Oakland California, Daryl had recurring Narration roles for the GMC brand., "An American Revolution" campaign.(2005) Continuing with his love of theatre and a thirst to learn more about the craft, Daryl received his first non-community theatre opportunity.(2003) An understudy role in a Broadway-style musical production with Theatreworks called "Memphis", music composed by David Bryan, keyboardist and co-founder of the rock band Bonjovi! The experience of being involved in a show with seasoned vets was trans-formative for Daryl, a learning experience first and foremost. Daryl has gone on to be a part of over 30 full length live theatre shows, including 5 lead roles, most of which took place from 2003-2008 and 2012-2014.
Some highlights of his artistic journey include recent Voice Over work as the narrator for the Telly Award winning Honda campaign, "Honda Is Family", (2019-2024), Lead character voice in an animated children's TV Show's music videos, video games and toy representations (2024-present and currently under NDA), Lead character voice on Sony Playstation CD Rom release "Firewall Ultra",(2023), Looping opportunities on the feature film, "Zodiac", directed by David Fincher,(2007).
Theatre highlights include the lead in James Baldwin's "Sonny's Blues" a short story adapted into a full length play by Word For Word Theatre Company in San Francisco, California, directed by Margo Hall, and toured in 4 cities in France to packed sold out audiences, 2008). A principal role and Lead understudy in "Short Eyes", written by Miguel Pinero and directed by Julian Acosta, performed for the first time anywhere since 1972 at the Los Angeles Theatre Centre in Los Angeles, California. This production received rave reviews in an extended run and represented the city of Los Angeles in the International Hispanic Theatre Festival held in South Beach Miami and selected to open the festival with two sold out performances at the Adrienne Arsht Center!, Miami, Florida! (2012)
Shortly after the tour in France, Daryl transplanted himself to Los Angeles where he has appeared as a principal in festival award winning feature films, "Meipporul", directed by Natty Kumar and "Everyday Black Man", directed by Carmen Madden. He has been featured in numerous TV shows including hits like "Private Practice", "Medium", "Community", "True Blood", "Greek", "Big Time Rush" and "Grey's Anatomy". (2008-2014)
After relocating back to the Bay Area in 2014 Daryl has entrenched himself into the Voice Over world and learning as much as possible, while cultivating other local acting opportunities primarily in Northern California. Look for Daryl as the "Disheveled Man", in Season 1, Episode 2 of the psychological thriller, "Chance", starring Hugh Laurie. It premiered October 19th, 2016 on the Hulu channel. You can also hear Daryl in various currently running commercials for Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing,(Announcer) Fastrak(Papa Bear, Hound,Parrot), Toyota,(Announcer) and Fintech.(Announcer)
Daryl has also starred and co-starred in multiple short films, the most recent being a commentary on the support of the Veteran's Administration called "Veteran's Crisis Line".(2022). Daryl secured his first film narration project on the award winning short, "The Unknown Depths", written and directed by Matt "TK" Devine and screening most recently at The Sunscreen Film Festival in St. Petersburg, Florida.(2023)
Daryl now resides in the beautiful country of Costa Rica working primarily on Voice Over opportunities, remotely from his home studio setup and via his ongoing agency representation with Stars Management out of San Francisco, Ca. (2022)
