Kiyoko Shibuya is an Academy Award-winning Visual Effects Supervisor and Producer. Inspired by "Star Wars" and "Back to the Future," she began her career at the Japanese VFX studio Shirogumi in 1989. A long-time collaborator of Director Takashi Yamazaki, Shibuya has served as the VFX Supervisor for every single one of his feature films, starting from his directorial debut, "Juvenile" (2000), through to the present day. This enduring creative partnership spans over 35 years. In 2024, she made history as a winner of the 96th Academy Award for Best Visual Effects for "Godzilla Minus One" (2023), marking the first time a Japanese film has ever won in this category.
