Ottmar Schreiner(1946-2013)
Regular soldier with the Lebach Parachute Battalion, reserve officer. Studied law in Berlin, Lausanne and Saarbrücken.
Joined the SPD in 1969. Former member of the federal executive board of the Association of German Student Unions and the Young Socialists. From 1998 to September 1999, federal executive director of the SPD. Since 2000, federal chairman of the Working Group for Workers' Questions in the SPD; since 2001, member of the SPD party executive committee.
Member of the Bundestag since 1980; 1991 to 1997 spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group in the Committee on Labor and Social Order, 1997 to 1998 deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group.
