Tim Cahill is an Australian midfield football player and plays for the Australia national team and Everton. On June 12, 2006 he made history by scoring the first two goals by an Australian in a FIFA World Cup finals match against Japan. Cahill was born to a Samoan mother and English father, and was encouraged to play soccer. He was educated at Bexley North Public School and Kingsgrove North High School.Tim Cahill played soccer for Lakemba Sports Club when he was a child.In 1997, he begged his parents to take him to England to play professionally. In the 2003-2004 season, was the workhorse in Millwall's heroic campaign which led Millwall to the FA Cup final for the first time in their history and a UEFA Cup place. Cahill's transition into the Premiership was seamless. In his first season Cahill with Everton scored 12 goals, an excellent return from a midfielder and finished the 2004/05 campaign as fan's player of the season. His Australia debut was against South Africa in June 2004 and also participated at the 2004 Olympic Games. He was named Oceania Footballer of the Year for 2004. Tim Cahill was the first Australian to ever score in a World Cup Finals game and he is also Australia's first Man of the Match at a World Cup.

Former Liverpool Manager Gerrard Houllier is a fan of Cahill. After Liverpool's 1-0 derby loss in 2004, Houllier went to the Everton dressing room and asked Cahill for his signed shirt, telling him that his family in France are Everton supporters.

I'm blessed that I'm not content. Whenever I work with kids, which I'm passionate about, I want them to know that, yes, two World Cups, two Asian Cups, but I've done it the hard way.
They knew who I was in Australia in 2006, but not to a great extent. Now, with the momentum of a second World Cup, it has gone crazy.
If kids see you on the street and they want an autograph, that's a big honour so I spend half an hour before I get in the ground and 40 minutes to an hour after the game with the Everton fans signing autographs.
I remember cleaning boots at Millwall on £250 a week and feeling like a millionaire. I'd made it then. At that time, if I never played for another club it wouldn't have bothered me too much because I'd made it with a football team in England.
I'm a very traditional person. The tattoos are about my grandmother dying and they tell the story about my mother and father, my brothers and my sister, my kids. It's pretty much a family tree on my arm with my life in football too.
