He is of On Akimel O'odham (Pima), Seneca, and Osage heritage, with his Seneca and Osage roots tracing back to Oklahoma on his maternal side. Collins is a multifaceted individual, recognized as an actor, author, photographer, and Indigenous community health educator.

    Thosh has dedicated his career to promoting holistic wellness rooted in Indigenous traditions. He serves as a board member for the Native Wellness Institute and is a co-founder of Well For Culture, an Indigenous wellness initiative that offers training and consulting to health care providers and organizations across the U.S. and Canada. He's also the co-author of The Seven Circles: Indigenous Teachings for Living Well. In collaboration with his wife Chelsey Luger, he co-authored The Seven Circles: Indigenous Teachings for Living Well (Harper Collins, 2023) and has Keep Your Fire Strong (Harper Collins, 2027) on the horizon.
