Madeleine is an Emmy-winning director and producer of fiction and documentary films. Madeleine's films include HBO's O.G. (2018), starring Jeffrey Wright and Theothus Carter, and the documentaries It's A Hard Truth Ain't it (2018), which was nominated for an Emmy, Dangerous Acts Starring the Unstable Elements of Belarus (2013), which won an Emmy Award, Duke 91&92: Back to Back (2012), and her first film, The Lottery (2010), shortlisted for an Academy Award.

Madeleine grew up in Connecticut and attended Duke University, where she received a B.S. in psychology. She was very interested in photography in college. She began her career as an production assistant, assistant editor, and editor before directing films. She edited a "30 for 30" for ESPN about acclaimed Dodgers pitcher, Fernando Valenzuela. Her most recent works are the Emmy-nominated documentary "It's A Hard Truth Ain't It" and her narrative feature debut, "O.G.", starring Jeffrey Wright, who won a Best Actor Award at Tribeca Film Festival for the film. She made both of those films in collaboration with men incarcerated in a maximum-security prison. Most of the cast of "O.G." are incarcerated. She received the Hudson Link for Higher Education in Prison Fischer Award for the two films. Her first feature documentary, "The Lottery", about the challenges in public education, was shortlisted for the 2011 Academy Awards for Best Feature Documentary. "Duke 91&92: Back To Back," her second film, was co-produced with Turner Sports. "Dangerous Acts Starring the Unstable Elements of Belarus", Sackler's third film, received a bevy of international awards for Best Documentary, as well as an Emmy Award in 2013.
