Biography

Shortcutnorge A/S and in this role he was responsible for day-to-day grading on features as well as commercials using a Da Vinci Resolve Linux unit. Additionally he participated in building up their grading suite.

Prior to Shortcutnorge A/S he was employed at Chimney Pot Oslo from 2000 - 2011. Starting out as an assistant for Senior Colorist Sandra Klass, the job consisted of conforming and exporting projects. Another focal point of his work was one-lighting on features and commercials.

After two years he started building up his own client network and began working as a full-time colorist as well as taking over the grading section entirely. Julien Alary is one of our international artists and is based in Oslo, Norway.

Avid river stream fisher and creator of some of Norways best lures. Once asked what he would chose if he had to give up one of the two, grading or creating lures, Julien replied "then I rather not live".

Looked in to the sun as a kid. As a result he had to stay inside a whole summer in a black and white room, with very dim light. The reoccurring headaches manifested themselves as colours, something that Julien in an interview later referred to as "a deeper understanding of the psychology of colours". Ever since, he never sets foot in the sun without sunshades.
