Katie A. King
Katie A. King is an Emmy-nominated and Peabody Award-winning producer and showrunner. Katie has developed and produced a wide variety of formats including TV docuseries and specials, talk shows, feature documentaries, live events, short-form narrative films, "behind the scenes," and branded content. Most recently, she served as EP/Showrunner on the critically-acclaimed docuseries "One Night in Idaho: The College Murders" for Amazon Prime, which became an immediate hit for the streamer. Previously, she was a Consulting Producer during the editing phase of Liz Garbus's docuseries "Gone Girls" for Netflix, exploring the mishandled case of missing and murdered sex workers on Long Island. Katie was the EP/Showrunner of the award-winning Showtime docuseries "We Need To Talk About Cosby," which premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival and was directed by W. Kamau Bell. Just before the pandemic, she produced a narrative short film in conjunction with the Women's Weekend Film Challenge in LA, leading an all-female crew of 26 women to complete a short narrative film in four days. As part of a special access documentary unit, Katie produced behind-the-scenes footage during Rihanna's ground-breaking 2019 "Savage X Fenty" Amazon special, filmed and edited during NY Fashion Week. Katie has served as Showrunner/Co-EP on a feature documentary for History Channel, an anniversary special for HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher," two seasons of "Beyond the Reasons" after shows for Netflix's hit series "Thirteen Reasons Why," and produced the premiere episode of the acclaimed CNN series "The Eighties," garnering the second-highest premiere ever for CNN's original programming. In 2015, she was among the first team of filmmakers paired with Cuban marine scientists to produce a Shark Week documentary in Cuba. In addition to producing, Katie is also developing original documentaries and series, and is a published writer. Before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film & TV, she taught Video Production to middle and high school students on the island of O'ahu. Katie holds a Bachelor of Science degree from James Madison University in Media Arts & Design, and completed the TV & Film Screenwriting certificate program at UCLA Extension. She is repped by WME agency.
