IMDbProStarmeterSee rank
Mahendra Saral (also known as Mahendra Tyagi) was a writer in bollywood in the early 1960 and 1970s, when Bollywood was going through its golden era and transitioning from black and white to colour prints. He had the opportunity to write for directors like Lekhraj Bakhri, Raghunath Jalani and P.L. Santoshi and work with actors such as Manoj Kumar, Shashi Kapoor, Jitendra, Rishi Kapoor and Reena Roy. After his stint with Bollywood, he moved on to work with Times of India, and often freelanced as a writer for some of the popular Indian magazines from that era.

His life's early story was forward looking, and resonates with today's youth - to pursue what one has always dreamed of in the face of all odds. He hailed from Meerut, and left his thriving family business behind with his father and brothers, to pursue his dream to work for Bollywood as an actor or a writer. He relocated to Mumbai and struggled similar to most other upcoming actors to finally making it as a writer for his first main stream Bollywood movie - Banarasi Thug.
