Born to a German mother, Hilde, and a Turkish father, Ahmet.

[In school] I was bullied. Not because I was Turkish, but because I didn't wear Nike sneakers and trendy jeans and because I didn't take part in many things, for example I didn't smoke.

When I was nine years old I started imitating voices. Those of Boris Becker or Helmut Kohl. My mother laughed about it and I thought it was good to make my people laugh.

[asked if he was a class clown as a student] I was a rather quiet guy and outsider.

I haven't even smoked one cigarette in my life. I haven't tried a single drug either. The only thing I tried is an occasional glass of wine. Alcohol is legal, but you shouldn't drink too much of it. Even though I am a rocker and on the road a lot, I have never tried anything. That is why I always say I am the chamomile tea rocker. And there is hope that my children will be just as strong. But the child is an independent person. One hopes: "Please be strong enough and do not succumb to peer pressure.
