Toby Spanton is an assistant director, director and writer.
With a degree in film studies from Winchester University, Toby started working for a post-production house in London. From there, his contacts took him into the television entertainment industry and finally onto the film industry, where he made a career as an assistant director.
In 2008 he wrote and directed his first short film, 'Curiosity', starring Emily Blunt and Tom Riley. The film screened at film festivals worldwide, including the 2010 LA Short Film Festival. The film was picked up for distribution and subsequently released on iTunes, Amazon and Google Play.
His second short, 'Two Skeletons', was shot in New York in 2011. The iPhone-shot drama, screened at the British Shorts Film Festival, Berlin and the Bootleg Film Festival in New York.
Toby's third short, Welcome to the Powder Keg', was shot in New York and London is 2018. The bare-knuckle fighting drama won 'Best Drama Short' at the 2019 Olympus Film Festival in LA and was shown at numerous festivals around the world.
Toby has written four feature scripts and is developing his first feature.
