Biography

JP Edwards is an American actor, stunt performer, filmmaker, writer, and award-winning author whose unconventional path to entertainment has taken him through competitive athletics, psychology, construction, Michelin-starred fine dining, and filmmaking. Born in Bradford, Pennsylvania, Edwards has spent much of his life pursuing different disciplines with the same philosophy: when he commits to something, he commits completely.

Before entering the entertainment industry, Edwards played college basketball and studied psychology at the University of Pittsburgh. His interest in psychology and human behavior would later become an important part of the way he approaches acting, character development, and storytelling.

His professional life outside entertainment was equally varied. Edwards worked in construction before entering New York City’s demanding restaurant industry, where he worked at Picholine under acclaimed chef Terrance Brennan. His experience in professional kitchens, fine dining, and wine service reinforced the same qualities that would later carry into his work in film: preparation, discipline, attention to detail, and the ability to perform under pressure.

Those experiences eventually converged in entertainment.

Edwards has built a career spanning acting and stunt performance across film, television, commercials, and independent productions. His credits include Tulsa King, Black Adam, Haunted Mansion, Paradise City, Audrey’s Children, Condor’s Nest, and Tom Swift. His work has allowed him to move between physically demanding stunt performances and character-driven acting roles while bringing an athletic and psychological approach to both.

His more recent work includes Heartland, along with Before Sunday, completed with K-LOVE Studio in Nashville.

Edwards has also expanded his work behind the camera. He created Malign, taking on multiple responsibilities as an actor, filmmaker, writer, producer, director, and stunt performer. The project received recognition on the independent film festival circuit, including an award for Edwards as a first-time director. His continuing work with Malign reflects the same philosophy that has followed him throughout his career: learn the discipline, take responsibility for the work, and push the project as far as possible.

His creative work extends beyond film. Writing under the name Jason Paul, Edwards is the author of the children’s book Lightning Bug Lights, which received recognition from the Best Indie Book Awards, including a BIBA award in the children’s book category.

Across athletics, hospitality, acting, stunt work, writing, directing, and filmmaking, there has been a consistent thread throughout Edwards’ career. He has repeatedly entered new disciplines, learned the craft, and challenged himself to see how far he could take it.
