Born in England and there wrote the ballad "Kathleen Mavourneen" came to America and in 1860 joined the Richmond, VA Howitzers Co. A of the Confederacy at the age of 52 injured/decorated and was present at the signing of the surrender ceremonies by Gen. Ullisis H. Grant and Gen. Robert E. Lee at Gettysburg, VA 1861 buried in "Confederate Hill Cemetary" Baltimore, Maryland, His ballad Kathleen Mavourneen was hailed as the "Favorite Song of the South" quoted in the book " Richmond To the Rapidan" also there quoted by fireside troops they hated the song "Oh How I Hate to Get Up in the Morning" played/written by my Gr.Grand Father Frederick W.N.Crouch named the Company Bugelar and sung by many in the Company later suggested by some that it's written by George M. Cohan, not true, GMC was an infant when this took place.
