Biography

Jonah Greenberg has been at the forefront of premium Chinese film and television content for over 20 years as both producer and talent agent. His career in China has mirrored the rise of the country's entertainment industry from one of the world's smallest to one of its largest.

Jonah graduated from Reed College in 1998 with a degree in Chinese Literature, having spent two years as an exchange student in Beijing.

Working first as a financial correspondent for Reuters in Hong Kong and then Beijing, Jonah got into Chinese showbiz in 2002 by joining Beijing indie film company Ming Productions. There he produced five films, including Singapore-HK coproduction One Last Dance, which competed in the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, and sixth generation filmmaker Zhang Yang's Sunflower.

In 2005 Jonah was recruited to open the China office of Creative Artists Agency (CAA) - then the largest Hollywood talent agency- and became its Managing Director in 2012. While at CAA, Jonah helped to build a fully local representation business, packaging the biggest box office hit in China in 2012, Lost in Thailand. Other initiatives involved the internationalization of CAA's China business: getting Chinese clients into Hollywood's global franchises and packaging many of the largest US-China coproductions.

In 2018 Jonah left CAA to start his own production company Salty Pictures. His first producing credit was Shadow (2019) by renowned filmmaker Zhang Yimou, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival. Salty Pictures' first production, Cave Rescue (2021), portrays the thrilling 2018 rescue of the "Wild Boars" soccer team in northern Thailand. The film premiered at the Pingyao International Film Festival in 2021 and came out in theaters in the US in August 2022.

In 2020, Jonah and Chinese media and entertainment icon Gao Xiaosong founded GGL Productions Llc with the shared mission of helping filmmakers and storytellers bridge the gap between Hollywood and China.
