Biography

1969 to 1979 polytechnic high school. Studied at the Central Institute of the Pioneer Organization, graduating in 1983 as a friendship pioneer leader and teacher of German and art education; studied at the "Karl Marx" Party College, graduating in 1988 with a degree in social science.

1983 to 1985 pioneer leader and teacher. 1988 to 1990 staff member for education and training in the Pioneer Organization/Central Council of the FDJ; January 1991 to November 1995 full-time position with the PDS.

1995 to 2000 member of the supervisory board of the housing cooperative "Grüne Mitte" e. G., member of the local history association Hellersdorf, Mahlsdorf, Kaulsdorf, of the board of trustees of the "Stiftung Deutsches Holocaust-Museum", of the association of patrons of the zoo Friedrichsfelde e. V. and in the German Association for Parliamentary Affairs.

1983 member of the SED, since 1990 of the PDS, January to October 1991 PDS district chairperson Hellersdorf, October 1991 to October 1992 deputy state chairperson of the PDS Berlin, October 1992 to December 2001 state chairperson. October 2000 to October 2002 deputy party chairwoman, 1990 to 1995 member of the Hellersdorf district assembly. November 1995 to October 1998 member of the Berlin House of Representatives.

Member of the Bundestag since 1998; October 2000 to October 2002 deputy chairwoman of the PDS parliamentary group, in the 15th legislative period non-attached member. Since October 2005, deputy parliamentary group chairwoman for the area of citizenship.
