Christian Ortega is a seasoned Director of Photography, Director, and Producer whose work spans scripted television, documentaries, and feature-length narratives. He has deep experience in the full life cycle of television-from development through post-as well as a growing body of work in narrative filmmaking as a Director and Director of Photography.
Since 2021, Christian has served as Director of Photography on 18 films including the Lifetime Original films; ‘Christmas Everyday', Starring Brandy Norwood, 'A Very Merry Beauty Salon' starring Tia Mowry, 'Be Happy' starring Tisha Campbell and Mekhi Phifer, and Though Shall Not.’
Last year his cinematography helped rank Tubi’s 'Sugar Mama' on Variety’s Top 10 Original Streaming Charts alongside films by Clint Eastwood and Tyler Perry whom had films on Netflix, and Max.
Christian also holds acting credits-on commercials for the NBA, Yahoo, and on feature length films such as Lifetime’s 'Our Dead Husband'-offering him a deeper insight into how visuals serve performance.
Christian’s strength as a director of photography has always been rooted in his love for the actor, as he has personally amassed more than 6,000 hours as an acting student above Carnegie Hall in NYC under the mentorship of master acting teacher Robert X. Modica.
Christian is known for his adaptability-quick pace, beautiful imagery with special attention to flattering images in the structured world of feature shoots. He brings a collaborative spirit, technical fluency, and storytelling intuition to every set.
