Biography

Rosa Mota was born on June 29, 1958 in Porto, Portugal.

Portuguese athlete, who is considered to have been one of 20th century's best marathon runners.

Being gold medalist at the 1988 Olympic Games (Seul) and the 1987 World Championships (Roma), she won 14 of her 22 career races.

Won bronze medal in 1984 at the Olympic Games (Los Angeles).

European Champion in 1982 (Atenas), 1986 (Stuttgart) and 1990 (Split).

In Brazil, Rosa Mota became very well known for being the greatest female winner of all time of the country's most famous street race, the São Silvestre Race, held on the streets of São Paulo annually on the last day of each year. She won the event six times consecutively: 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986.
