Biography

João Soares was born on August 29, 1949 in Lisbon, Portugal. He is an actor, known for Crónica dos Bons Malandros (2020), A Ferreirinha (2004) and A Revolução de Abril no Olhar de Carlos Gil (2010). He is married to Annick Burhenne. They have two children. He was previously married to Maria Olímpia Soares.

Polititian, Member of Parliament and former 63rd Mayor of Lisbon (1996-2001).

Father of three children from his first marriage, Maria Inês (b. 1976), Maria Mafalda (b. 1981) and Mário Alberto (b. 1987), named after his grandfather. Father, with Annick, of two children: one son named Jonas (b. 2003), named after the deceased Angolan Polititian Jonas Savimbi, and one daughter named Lilah (b. 2007).

Son of Mário Soares, former Lawyer, Polititian, Minister, 150th Prime-Minister and 15th President of the Republic of Portugal, and his wife Maria de Jesus Simões Barroso, former theater actress and President of the Portuguese Red Cross. Brother of Isabel Barroso Soares.
