Duchess of Kent was born on February 22, 1933 in Hovingham, Yorkshire, England, UK. She was married to Edward Windsor. She died on September 4, 2025 in Kensington Palace, London, England, UK.

She was the oldest member of the British royal family, the wife of Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, a first cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

She taught music in a Hull primary school for 13 years. The students and parents knew nothing of her royal identity; she was known as "Mrs. Kent".

She was awarded Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order in the 1977 Queen's Birthday Honours List for her services to members of the British royal family. The ceremony took place at Buckingham Palace on June 9, 1977.
