Joby Stephens

Biography

Joby Stephens

Mini bio

  • Born in London, Joby Stephens is an accomplished filmmaker. With an impressive track record collaborating with some of the world's biggest names, he's a producer and director able to achieve remarkable results.

Back in 2006, Joby made his directorial debut with "Project One," a short action film he co-directed with Adam Kirley, known for his work on Kingsman 2, Casino Royale and Aladdin, that quickly caught the attention of US Film Festivals and marked the beginning of his creative journey. In 2009, he shifted gears and delved into the world of horror with "Skin Deep," a film that not only earned him awards but also gained further recognition.

Joby's experience in the industry is diverse, from handling publicity for "Pirates of the Caribbean 4" to Assistant Directing on notable films like "Casino Royale" and "Golden Compass."

In 2017, Joby collaborated once more with Adam Kirley to produce the short film "Rogue Trooper: The Quartz Massacre," drawing inspiration from the character Rogue Trooper featured in the 2000AD series. This action sci-fi film achieved acclaim, securing festival awards in Europe and garnering attention for the duo from esteemed directors like Edgar Wright and Duncan Jones.

His most ambitious project came to life between 2019 and 2022 when he took on the role of main producer and 1st AD for "School Fight." This groundbreaking film, the first feature shot using Apple Pro Res RAW, has secured its place in history as "The most ambitious indie British film ever made " and the first-ever British indie feature to be acquired by a major studio, MARV Films, before even a festival debut.

Beyond his feature work, Joby has also crafted compelling short documentaries that have earned their share of acclaim.

As the founder and director of Jam96, a prominent London-based film production company, Joby continues to push the boundaries of storytelling. His passion for the craft is evident in every project he takes on, making him a respected figure in the world of filmmaking.
